Title:Seed transmission and distribution of tobacco streak virus in six cultivars of soybeans

Source:Phytopath. 1974, 64(1):112-114
Abstract:Isolates of TSV from soybean (A-TSV) and tobacco (W-TSV) both occurred in all parts of inoculated soybean plants (3 growth stages) except pollen, embryos of immature seeds and leaves (except where directly inoculated) that had developed prior to inoculation. Depending on the cv., 0-20% of seedlings from immature seeds from A-TSV infected plants contained A-TSV; the percentage was higher in seedlings from mature seeds. Differences in seed transmission were noted among cvs. (2.6-30.6%). W-TSV was not transmitted through either immature or mature seeds.
