Title:Seed transmission of viruses in soybean (Glycine max) in relation to sanitation and international transfer of improved germplasm

Abstract:Seed transmission experiments made to establish whether cowpea and mild mottle virus (CMMV) is seed-transmitted in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) as earlier reported, have failed to show that such transmission may occur; neither could it be shown that simultaneous infection with SMV could effect such transmission. The issue of sanitation of improved breeders' seed for international distribution and testing is discussed against this background
