Abstract:The virus tentatively named soybean chlorotic spot [RPP 49, 1512] is renamed soybean mild mosaic virus, and is believed to be a previously undescribed seed-borne virus of soybean. Virus and symptoms are described. The virus was transmitted mechanically and by Myzus persicae, but not by Aulacorthum solani or Aphis glycines. The rate of seed transmission varied from 22 to 76% (in 9 soybean cvs.) but none occurred in the cvs. Chippewa and Kingen 1.
