Abstract:Originating as an F4-derived line from the cross Spencer × Resnik, this indeterminate, maturity group 3 variety was released in 1994 because of its excellent yield potential and its resistance to multiple races of Phytophthora sojae. It is adapted to production in latitudes from 38-41°N in the USA where maturity group 3 varieties have been successfully grown. In 2-year trials, Probst produced yields of 3578 kg/ha. Seed weight averaged 15.3 g/100 seeds, and seeds contained 413 g/kg protein and 203 g/kg oil. Probst contains the Rps1-k allele that confers resistance to P. sojae races 1 to 11, 13 to 15, 17, 18, 21 to 24 and 26.
