Trait Report for Acyl-[acyl-carrier-protein] desaturase activity
Definition:The Acyl-ACP desaturase activity of a plant or plant part.
Comments:Catalysis of the reaction: stearoyl-[acyl-carrier protein] + reduced acceptor + O2 = oleoyl-[acyl-carrier protein] + acceptor + H2O. The enzyme requires ferredoxin. The enzyme is found in the lumen of plastids, where de novo biosynthesis of fatty acids occurs, and acts on freshly synthesized saturated fatty acids that are still linked to acyl-carrier protein.

Stearoyl-[acyl-carrier-protein] 9-desaturase
Stearyl acyl carrier protein desaturase
