Fast Neutron Mutants
About the Project
Browse Mutant
Population Data
Compiled here are over 20,000 independent soybean fast neutron mutant lines derived from
M92-220 developed for use in soybean functional genomics. Within the catalog are mutants with observed phenotypic variation in seed composition, maturity, morphology, pigmentation, roots and nodulation. This population was first used for a forward screen of seed protein and oil mutants. In the meantime, it was revitalized as a resource for phenome analysis and future forward and reverse genetics screens. Analysis of genomic DNA from a subset of mutants for deletions and additions by comparative genome hybridization are also displayed on this site.
This database is open to the community to search and browse for soybean mutants of interest. Locations of detected DNA deletions and additions may be viewed by checking the "Mutants" track on the SoyBase Wm82 genome sequence browser. The availability of seed from individual mutant lines is indicated. Bulk seed from the fast neutron mutagenesis population is available on request.

Fast Neutron News
The initial release of data for the Fast Neutron Mutant Population has been incorporated into SoyBase. Chromosomal alterations in selected mutants can be viewed in the context of the Wm82 genome sequence
here. The mutant population can be searched for whole plant phenotypic traits, seed composition traits or for genes contained in a chromosomal alteration
here.
