Post doctoral research
fellow position in Functional Genomics of Nematode Resistance in Soybean
A post doctoral research fellow position is available
immediately at the Soybean Genomics and Biotechnology laboratory at the University
of Missouri. The research focus will be on the characterization of candidate
genes associated with soybean plant resistance to cyst nematode based on gene
expression patterns and genomic sequences of targeted QTL regions. Various
methodologies will be used for the functional characterization of candidates
including over expression and gene silencing with RNAi cassettes. The research program includes studies
using model systems and soybean hairy root transformation techniques. Applicants
should have a Ph.D. in plant biology, genetics, biotechnology or a related
discipline. The position requires a strong background in molecular biology
techniques such as cloning, RNAi gene silencing techniques, and transgenic and
mutant analyses. Experience with gene regulation, biochemical pathways, and biological
databases are desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills and
the ability to work well in a collaborative research environment are essential.
Applicants should provide a letter of interest, a complete CV, and three
reference letters. Please include the following in the subject line: “PD Application for Functional Genomics
of Nematode Resistance” and send the above requested information to:
