POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE: Program Technician in Soybean Breeding and Genetics
LOCATION: Department of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences

DURATION: Full time, 12 month appointment, renewable annually pending funding
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
POSITION AVAILABLE: April 15, 2011 or when a suitable candidate is identified.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES: The individual will be responsible for the project leader and assist the project leader in all aspects of the soybean breeding and genetics research program. Job duties of the program technician include, but are not limited to, seed packaging, planting, harvesting, seed processing, breeding nursery maintenance and test plot management, data collection and analysis, greenhouse operations, and seed lab management. In addition, the incumbent will have responsibilities to coordinate all the field, greenhouse, and laboratory activities; to supervise part-time employees and graduate students; to participate in grant proposal writing, program development, preparing research reports and professional presentations/publications.
QUALIFICATIONS: A B.S. degree with a minimum of three years of experience or M.S. degree in crop science or plant breeding/genetics. Experience in soybean research and mechanical skills a plus.
